Everyone looks like they're getting ready to celebrate the new year. I don't really know how dates work here, but Sis' birthday is on New Year's Day back home. Did you know?

Mm! Every year we'd wear kimonos and go to the shrine together, and then we'd have a big dinner with our family.

[ she gulps to herself as she thinks back to her parents and her home, both worlds away from her now. for a moment, she feels like she's swallowing back tears. ]

A-Anyway... I was sort of planning something! [ happy thoughts, ruby. happy thoughts. ] Our mom and I would always make her a big pudding to celebrate, but I can't really make it by myself... So I was wondering...

The moment Riko realizes that this subject might be painful, she starts thinking about a subtle (or not really) topic change, but apparently, it isn't necessary. Actually, she even catches up pretty quick. ]

Let's prepare the biggest pudding we can only make, Ruby-chan. [ A pause. ] I mean...I've never made one, but if you tell me what to do, I think I'll be fine.

Really? You'll help?

[ not that she's surprised that riko is saying yes, but she wants her to know how grateful she is that she's agreeing. while she'd love to ask chika, riko seems like she'd be a little more... "precise" when it comes to baking. ]

It's okay! I know the recipe by heart. [ she's really excited now! ] We'll make the biggest and best birthday pudding ever!

Of course, Dia-san has been here with me since the beginning and she supports us a lot. It's the least I can do.

She doesn't tell people a lot, but pudding is one of Sis' favourite foods. That's why I want to make it special.
