IC INFO;

CHARACTER NAME: Riko Sakurauchi
CANON & HISTORY: Love Live: Sunshine! (history here)
AGE: 16
CANON POINT: Post-season 1
PERSONALITY:
Riko often describes herself as a normal girl who's as ordinary as a high school can be. This is, what she believes, her dominant characteristic which she emphasizes it a lot, especially in the context of becoming a school idol, but also in everyday situations. Clearly, Riko doesn't believe she's suitable for the role and is rather reluctant when Chika approaches her and invites her to join the school idol club. However, is she as plain as she maintains to be? Well, she sure is an ordinary school girl, but she's definitely not as plain as she thinks.

“Nothing that I do is fun. And nothing changes.”

At the beginning of the series, Riko is shown to be in an artistic slump that she can't overcome. Riko, who truly enjoyed playing the piano as a child is now unable to enjoy playing it. The piano is quite important to her and for that reason, she seeks "the sound of the ocean" which could possibly help her enjoy playing the piano again and which, more or less, equals to the reason why she's a pianist. There's also the fear that she's going to fail everyone's expectations as she won a piano competition in the middle school and enrolled to Otonokizaka, famous for their talented students. Ultimately, thanks to becoming a school idol and with the support of her friends, Riko manages to stand on stage and play the piano in front of an audience again. It proves how passionate Riko can be about something that makes her happy. Instead of giving in to the crippling fear that prevented her from playing during the competition she entered in high school which resulted in driving her away from the piano and made her hesitant to play in front of anyone, Riko decides to find "the sound of the ocean" she needs to compose a piano piece and enters a competition.

When she's given the opportunity to become a school idol, Riko doesn't agree straight away. It's partly because she doesn't want to spread herself too thin—composing, being an idol and resolving her piano problem all take time, obviously. Actually, she feels a bit bad even after joining the club because her resolve isn't as strong as Chika's, indicating that Riko is a sincere and wouldn't like to do anything half-heartedly. When she discovers the world of school idols and finds out more and more about them, Riko realizes that she'd like to shine just like they do. At first, she simply wanted to support Chika, but later on, it becomes obvious to Riko that she wants to work hard not just for the sake of her friends but to become school idols together.

“This is where I want to be now.”

Riko is a reserved and modest girl—rather than going out, she prefers to stay home. Even her hobbies mostly include indoor activities such as painting, cooking, handicraft, and, of course, playing the piano and viola. As for the modest part, she's quite often flustered by the idol costumes because of how extravagant they look. She also can be considered mature, but in fact, Riko can be rather awkward at times, especially around new people. It takes her some time to adapt to new situations, as it's shown when she moves from Tokyo to Uchiura but thanks to the support of her new friends it becomes much easier. That being, while she's calm most of the time, Riko is rather expressive too, especially when she's flustered or scared and definitely doesn't seem as mature.

While it's true that Riko might come off as a plain school girl, she's simply looking for a way to express herself, just like she once looked for the inspiration to play the piano. The bright personalities of her friends are sometimes overwhelming to her, but all in all, she looks up to them and hopes to find what her own charm is one day. It goes without saying that her friends from Aqours are playing a very important role in her life and thanks to them and their support she was able to overcome her artistic slump and realize that she'd like to sing and dance as an idol together with them.

POWERS: None!
OTHER: She has the most amusing reaction to dogs. This is important. Also reads questionable manga/doujinshi.

GAME INFO;

MAGIC ABILITY: Drawing creation—Riko will be able to create objects by drawing them, but they will last no longer than two hours. At a later point in time she might create living beings as well but they will disappear after 10 minutes, and won't be able to make any sounds nor speak.
PRICE: Her matching scrunchie that she wore during a piano competition when her friends from Aqours performed on stage to qualify for Love Live.
ACCLIMATION: Strong 1. She's okay with transferring schools, but world-hopping is a different kind of thing, obviously. She's not used to magic that goes beyond card tricks either so everything is going to be new and scary to her. And she's prone to panic, so there's that.
